Releasing Guilt, Preventing Burnout
Are you feeling overwhelmed in the face of your work and life challenges?
Are you struggling with inner conflict, between your personal needs and those of the people whom you support?
Are you tired of feeling guilty all the time?
Guilt generally arrives in one of two flavours. The first, most easily recognised, is the healthy remorse generated by our moral compass in response to instances when we have hurt or otherwise injured another being, animate or otherwise.
The second relates to breaking of the rules of belonging of a group of which we are part. This guilt is often chronic and is not healthy.
We have an innate human need to belong. The first place in which we find it is usually in our family of origin. We learn that there are rules to belonging - ways of doing, ways of thinking, ways of being.
As we age, we experiment with different ways of doing, of thinking, and of being, frequently finding approaches that sit more comfortably with us. The dissonance between these approaches and the rules of belonging to our family is expressed as a sense of guilt. It’s the discomfort we feel when torn between ‘want’ and ‘should’.
This workshop will support you in surfacing sub-conscious rules of belonging, or loyalties, which may no longer be serving your well-being. This can frequently be transformative, particularly for those struggling with burnout. Potential outcomes for participants include:
shifting of stuck (repeating) patterns
releasing of guilt and shame
greater easefulness in saying no
alleviation of symptoms of illness
more harmonious relationships
This is a systemic constellation workshop and will include an opportunity for one participant to explore the loyalties generating their feelings of guilt. Representing in someone else’s constellation can also bring clarity to your own situation. For more information on the methodology of systemic constellations read this.
