Freelance writer with a unique combination of experience spanning scientific, commercial and creative fields.
I have personal interests in the links between nutrition and mental health, in psychology, family dynamics, herbal medicine and energy fields as well as in a range of sustainability issues, particularly with reference to food and farming. I love to write about all of these areas.
I began writing commercially when running my nutrition consultancy, using in-depth market analysis articles to promote my business as well as writing copy for my own websites. Published articles have featured in trade magazines such as The Grocer, Nutraceuticals World, Eurofruit and Food Manufacture.
I work actively with the UK-based Sustainable Food Trust, producing both articles and images for their website. I also work as a volunteer advocate for children in care, ensuring that they are given a voice at meetings and court hearings involving key decisions about their well being.
Choice of appropriate words is paramount, both when talking to the children but also when writing written reports of their "voice". This work also helps me maintain a child-centric approach in my fiction writing.
My academic qualifications include a first degree in Psychology and a Masters in Human Nutrition. I have also conducted post-graduate research into the links between nutrient intake and a range of minor health complaints. As a result I am well qualified to review the validity of scientific research studies.
